I Know My Hubby Loves Me When…

My hubby just washed my hair for me.  I’ve needed this so bad for the past couple days… and over the past 6 days my hubby has been my super hero, taking care of the kids, while working overtime at work (from home), cleaning, dinner making, laundry folding, and more.

I thought I should take a quick minute to let you know what’s up with me lately, since depending on how the rest of the week goes, you might not hear from me for a couple more days…  I don’t like to blog much about the “down” side of life, because I see my blog as an escape, and don’t want it to become a place for me to complain!  But I thought you all deserved a little current update on me!

I’ve mentioned before that I have been dealing with daily headaches since September 9th of last year.  I know the date, and remember it well, because I was pretty sure I must have meningitis, my head hurt so much!  I was quickly put on meds, was given a CT scan, and was put on the list to be put under a neurologists care.  Fast forward 9 months to last week Wednesday, and the neurologist gave me a Lumbar Puncture to test further.  I was told an after-effect could be a really bad headache, but I had no idea it would make me bed-ridden since that moment!!  Lots of pain medications have been swallowed, thrown up, and useless for this incredible headache pain I have.  Do any of you have experience with this?!  I’d love to hear about it!!

Apparently this is common in women between the ages of 20 – 40 with a history of headaches.  :(   My neurologist explained to me that last measure they take for this reaction is called a “blood patch”, where he would take blood from my arm and insert it into the original spot from the lumbar puncture… the reason for my reaction is a spinal fluid leakage, and this blood patch creates a blockage, to seal the leak.  Today I called his office, planning to beg for a blood patch, but wasn’t able to get in touch with him directly.  Tomorrow my hubby will take over and demand one!!  :)   I am just so thankful that he has been able to work from home this whole time, and that my parents have been so helpful… that’s where the girls are right now!  So helpful!

Since lifting my head off the pillow hurts an excruciating amount, my hair was getting pretty unruly!  Turns out hanging my head over the edge of the tub doesn’t hurt so much, so hubby helped with the washing!  :)

Praying either my body heals over night tonight, or that the doctor can do something soon… either way, I’m pretty fed up, and very disappointed that I’m missing out on my kids very fun final days of school activities!  Other than that, I will be back when I feel better, probably with a glass of wine in my hand!

Fame On Friday #13

Get ready to drool!! My guest today has some serious talent in the kitchen!! Meet Jullee!

I want to start off by thanking Leanne for featuring me on her fantastic blog.  My name is Jullee and I blog over at The Grubery where I cook up delicious delights for my family.  I am a wife and the Mother of two beautiful little girls, 20 months and 4 years old.  When it comes to eating I like to try everything and anything.  In the past I have tried some strange things..like Bull testicles and fried Rattle snake.  The only thing that makes me squeamish is raw or rare meat.  I prefer my steak well done!

After having my first daughter I realized that my super unhealthy lifestyle of eating out just wasn’t going to cut it.  I decided to take what my Momma taught me and put it to good use.  I started searching for recipes and came across so many fun blogs.  And, when a stay at home Mom gets introduced to blogs she typically starts blogging.  So I started up my food blog.

Over the past year I have probably tried more new recipes than I had over the previous five years all together.  I have whipped up some fantastic and delicious delights and I want to share a few of my favorites with you.

If you like Shrimp and Mango this is the recipe for you!  The sweetness of the shrimp and Mangoes mix perfectly with a tart Yogurt, Lime, and Mint sauce.  It is quick and easy and perfect for a warm summer night.

The recipe on my blog that I have made more times than any other would be this delicious Spicy Pumpkin Chili.  I have served this twice for company and both times my guests got really nervous when I mentioned that not only is the Chili Vegetarian..but it also has Pumpkin puree in it.  This amazing Chili wins everyone over with the very first flavorful bite.

Do you dream of making delicious Doughnuts without having to deal with the dough?  Me too!  I am actually a little afraid of yeast.  There is just something about having to get the water within a proper temperature before you either kill it or freeze it to death.  That’s why I decided to try making Doughnuts with Pillsbury Biscuit Dough.  When I told my sister I was trying these she thought I was crazy.  But crazy is as crazy does and these turned out great.  They tasted fantastic..and when you take into account that the prep time is almost non-existent they are even more amazing.
A Sloppy Joe made with Indian ingredients?  Oh yes, and  it was amazing!  I didn’t know what to expect but I was willing to give it a try because I love sloppy Joe’s and I also love Indian food.  I am so glad I tried this because it is probably my favorite dish that I’ve blogged about.  This recipe tasted amazing and it was super flavorful.
For my baby’s First Birthday I whipped up these adorable flower cupcakes using Mini Marshmallows.  They turned out so cute and all of my guests loved them.  The kids gobbled them up and I just loved how girly they were..especially considering her Birthday is in October and these pretty little things had to fit in among pumpkins, Gooey mice, Witch fingers, and other Halloweeny stuff.

Thanks again to Leanne for inviting me to spend a little time with ya’ll!  I hope you have as much fun looking over my recipes as I had whipping them up.  Thanks for hanging out with me and I hope you will come and grab some Grub with me at The Grubery.

Thank you so much for being here Jullee!!

Please take some time to visit Jullee’s blog, and thanks so much for reading!

Have You Ever Been?

Granny and Grumpa's Antiques - why have I never heard of this place before?!

I will apologize in advance for the length of this post!!!  But I really wanted to share all of this with you!  Friday we finally had a clear sky, and I couldn’t wait to take advantage of it…. so with baby asleep and hubby working from home, I picked up Anna from preschool, and hit up a place I only found about recently…

Granny and Grumpa's Antiques - why have I never heard of this place before?!

the first barn....

and many, many, more barns full!

...so many signs! Don't let the "no parking" signs and "don't you even think about parking here" signs trick you! Go ahead and park anywhere!

when we pulled up, there was this adorable old dog, who howled so sadly... we couldn't help but give him some love (and maybe feed him some french fries. ahem).

The first room, Lanterns galore!!

these rides worked - without having to pay for them! Just press the button - made Anna's day!

a room devoted to coke memorabilia

...another for beer!

beware, there are these mannequins everywhere - especially around corners! This first one freaked the living daylights out of me!!

you won't believe the rooms dedicated to dolls! Anna and I spent a lot of time in here! Some I recognized from childhood, and some so scary we didn't want to look at them twice!

shelves of antique bicycles...

so.many.license plates.

baby carriage galore

horse carriage galore

I really wanted this box. Shopping with a 4-year-old doesn't leave much time for decision-making though. Oh, FYI, they only take cash. I didn't bring cash. (might have been a good thing!)

I love these big wheels. I've mentioned before I love garden knickknacks - these are no exception!

...there are so many of them!...

a very cool pulper

one of the barns has a second level, with so many books

...so many pianos...

...so many lamps...

..this table was there, and completely creeped Anna out! LOL!...

...so many frames!..

more and more fantastic junk!

this fantastic place is in the country, close to the Whatcom overpass, off of highway 1. It's number 1 on Abbotsford's Farm Circle Tour

cool things for Anna to play on...

Laundry washboards! I love these things! I will be going back for one!!

I haven't shown you anything compared to everything that's there! You really must take some time to check this place out! Have you been there before?? What did you think?!

so much fun!!  I can’t wait to go back!  Preferable without kids and with cash!  :)

Can I show you more pictures??  I’m sorry this post probably takes awhile to load, but I need to show you what we did at the end of the day!

We live so close to the Greater Vancouver Zoo, and get there as often as we can, even if it’s only for an hour… and this time we hit it lucky!

we got to get up close and personal with the new baby zebra!!

there was a small crew in the barn, shooting for a commercial, and they let the kids and I in to get close to the momma and her baby! SO special!

I am a big fan of our zoo, and love every time I take the kids. It annoys me a bit that they always insist on taking their bikes, but when we get there, it's all good.

except for when Jordan's chain fall off, and Anna has to go pee. grrr.

but, I suck it up, and continue to be amazed that we can see such beauty, so up close...some time with Shadow the Grizzly Bear

...the bald eagles that have been injured in the wild, and now have a safe haven at the zoo...

...caribou..

more babies!! So cute!!!

most of all I love watching the wonder and excitement in my children.

my beautiful, happy children!

I just found this quote tonight:  “I will spend eternity knowing my children as adults. But tonight, right here, right now, and for the next precious years, I have the rare privilege of knowing them as a child. What a gift to experience the children in our lives as children! For a brief moment during the journey of mortality, we get to watch them laugh, learn, experience, grow.” ~Author Unknown

Thank you so, so much for reading!

Fame On Friday #12

Today I get to introduce you to someone fantastic!  Jennifer and I met through a bloggers network on facebook, and when I looked up her blog, I ended up spending A LOT of time there… this girl has super talent – but I’ll let her show you herself!

Hello New Friends! I’m thrilled to be over here for Fame On Fridays! Who doesn’t like a little bit of fame once in a while?

I’m Jennifer and I blog over at Finding My Way in Texas! I’ve been in Texas almost a year now… so I’m not as inclined to get lost… but I am still working on making it my Home. I grew up just outside of Toronto, Ontario, Canada! So you can only imagine how much of an adjustment its been to adapt to SMALL town Texas! But I am loving every minute of it! I got married to my handsome cowboy (and the reason I moved to Texas in the first place) back in February :) I’d love to tell you that life has been perfect since then, but, well… it never is! But its been pretty darn close :)

edited example

I started my blog about a week after I moved here. I needed a place to feel connected and to share the projects I was doing. Now I write about whatever catches my fancy. I’ve discovered that I love to sew, I have a fabric obsession and I’ve got some random talents that I would have never before had a use for! I’ve also continued to pursue some long standing passions and hobbies. I’ve been an avid photographer for several years and love capturing special moments. I’m also pretty good at crochet and can recreate almost anything I see with out a pattern. Mostly cause I can’t read patterns and have to figure it out on my own:) A lot of the things I create end up in my shop, LoneStar Lovlies, but I’ll tell you more about it in a minute.  For right now I thought I’d share with you a few of my favorite projects and creations from the past 11 months :)

random 012

One on the first and biggest projects I tackled was a HUGE rag quilt! Its still one of my favorite things ever, but that’s probably due to the fact that I LITTERALLY poured blood sweat and tears into it.

Its amazing to me what the blog world falls in love with, but this Fall Burlap Wreath I created was a big hit! I’m still getting comments and views on it! Thank you Pinterest. It was one of those spur of the moment, grab my glue gun and go to town moments that worked out really well :) I

The African Violet Hexagon Blanket and the Wool Eater Baby Blanket are 2 of my top 5 favorite things I’ve ever crocheted list.

This was a fun project I whipped up as a guest post and fell in love with! I’ve made a couple more as gifts and they’ve been a big hit! I love being randomly crafty :)

Like I said earlier… Its kind of random, but I do things that I enjoy :)

LoneStar Lovlies where a lot of my creations end up! You’ll find everything from Coffee Cozies and baby afghans to camera strap covers and mug rugs!
IF you see something you Like use Code “FAMEONFRIDAYS” for get 15% off :) There will be a bunch of new things in the shop after the 23rd and I often have deals posted on my Facebook page.

Ok… I think I’ve used up my “15 minutes”! I hope you’ll drop by Finding My Way in Texas and say Hi! I love meeting new people and making new friends :)
