Shh… Baby Sleeping

Our little baby, now an incredible 5 months old, sleeps downstairs.  Okay, not really…. her bedroom is downstairs.  But this little doll, I just can’t seem to separate from her!  So for now, except for naps, she sleeps in a bassinet beside me (which she is dangerously close to over-growing!)   :(     But the rest of the family has a hard time clueing in that when her door is closed, it probably means she’s sleeping in there.  So I decided she needed a large sign.  Honestly, it doesn’t help much, but it looks pretty!

I scrounged together some supplies around the house, plus made the home-made Modge - Podge Recipe I posted about here.

Step 1 - Black Craft Paper... wrote words by hand and cut them out...

Step 2 - found corresponding craft paper

Step 3 - used 3D tape to tape onto fancy craft paper

Step 4 - found some scrap cardboard lying around

Step 5 - Roughly painted matching blue Craft Paint to the edges

Step 6 - Making Modge Podge... glue and a jar

Step 7 - Modge Podge... pour glue into jar

Step 8 - Modge Podge... add equal amount of water

Step 9 - Modge Podge... shake, shake, shake!

Step 10 - "painted" modge podge onto the surface of the cardboard

Step 11 - Apply sign

Step 12 - when dry, applied top layer of modge podge

Step 13 - allow to dry ~ was starting to curl a bit, so I "weighted" down the corners

step 14 - added blue ribbon and an 'E' accessory, and ta-da!

And….

...my next Victim!

…although, the way this table is treating me, I might be the victim!

Oh, for the love of Pinterest

Have you heard about this??  With all this blog reading, I’ve been reading more and more about Pinterest and how much everyone loves it.  So, finally, I went to check it out.  I knew immediately I wanted to take a part of it… it just took me a couple of days to figure it out (my husband is the computer geek – not me!).   Now that I “get” it, I LOVE it!!  This is where I can finally keep organized all the things I find on-line that I never want to forget!  And now when I find inspiration, I can refer back to my pin on Pinterest, so I can give the creator of the project kudos for my copycat version!

So, I mentioned on my last posting, Getting Ready For Fall, that I had a couple of Fall projects to show you… so let me pull up my first inspiration I pinned on Pinterest…..   ;)

Ta-Da!

What do you think??  Not bad for a first time if you ask me!  :)   I think it could maybe use a couple large sunflowers, but I’ll wait until I find the perfect ones!  So for 8 bucks of fabric (Walmart has the perfect size swatches for these small projects) and 1 of the last of 2 wire hangers I happened to not throw away during my last purge, I like my new wreath!

Tonight I plan to follow this home-made ModgePodge recipe found on Do It Yourself Diva’s, to finish off some current projects!

For the love of Mason Jars

Cutlery Holders

I have been thinking about Mason Jars lately… mostly because so many of my friends on facebook seem to be canning right now.  I don’t know how to can.  Do I want to learn?  Not sure yet!  I have fond memories of my mom canning all sorts of fruits and vegetables, and loved running to the garage to grab some canned peaches to pile on top of our icecream for dessert.  But I do take after my mom, in that I can’t stand having anyone in the kitchen with me, so, no, I never learned how to can.  I’m sure I could learn now, but like I said, not sure if I want to!  Do I??

I do know, however, that there are a ton of other uses for Mason Jars, and many people seem to adore Mason Jars.  I just thought of an idea myself that I’d like to use them for.  But for now, here are some other uses to inspire you!

1. Antique Mason Jar Lights

Antique Mason Jar Light

This one is actually hooked up with electrical.  Very cool.  You could also turn it upside down, and just put in a tealight.  Grab a bunch, and you’ve got romance!

2.  Mason Jar Storage

How adorable.  I love this idea!

3.  Mason Jar Planter

A different take on the same idea – great for a herb garden by your sunny window!  click here to find out how.

4.  paint your Mason Jarsfrom http://lizmarieblog.comPaint your Jars and get a whole different look!  Adorable!  Find out how here.

5.  Or just tint them

So Pretty!  Check out how here.

6.  Sewing Storage!

I LOVE this idea!  We are always losing our needles and threads.  (Probably because we don’t use them often enough!)
